Johannes Kepler's theories relating the movements of the heavens to music are a beautiful bridge between humanistic scholarship and scientific endeavor. His writings in Harmonices Mundi on the music of the spheres are the inspiration for my series “If Only We Had the Ears to Hear It.” The six patterns on the spheres correspond to the planets known to Kepler. Derived from fractal geometry, they suggest the infinity of the universe and the musical staff. It is my intention that these prints sing together, as Kepler said, in “perfect accord,” each in its own voice.
